Ireland 2014

After years of dreaming and planning we are finally going to Ireland!  Rick and I have had a map of Ireland on our wall for years with pins marking cities we would like to go and post-its with ideas of things we want to do.  And now Saturday morning at 6:15am we leave for Dublin, landing Sunday morning at 5:00am.  We then have five hours to kill before our train leaves for Northern Ireland.  Northern Ireland is a separate country from the Republic of Ireland.  They are region of the United Kingdom, using British currency.  We will spend two nights in Belfast.
Then we take the train back down to Dublin, rent a car and head straight south to the city of Wexford.  Most famous for Waterford Crystal. We spend the next week meandering down the southern Irish coast.  Staying in Kinsale, Cork, Dingle Peninsula, and Galway.

The last week is spent just north of Dublin in a town called Drogheda and in Dublin city.  Of course we'll visit the Guinness Brewery!  And other sites on our list are Trinity College, Book of Kells, Newgrange and Bra na Boinne. We end it all with a visit to the Curragh, which is one of the events we are most excited about!  The Curragh is the famous Irish horse racing track and while we're there they have the Guineas 2000.  It's the first of four big horse racing weekends at the track.
We hope to keep this blog updated along our travels with pictures!  All our bed and breakfast have free wi-fi... so we have no excuses!  Talk to you all next from across the pond!

Cheers!
Rick and Jenn
